An Overview of Maxicare’s EReady Prepaid Cards

But first, what is a Prepaid Card? How does it work?

Just like the Prepaid Card that you may have experienced in your phone usage, a prepaid card has the following features:

  • It is meant for one time use only. Once used, the card has no more value.
  • It has a validity period. Usually maximum validity period is for one (1) year.
  • It is non-transferrable. Once registered to a specific name, it can no longer be transferred to another name.

Now that we know the features of a prepaid card, the first prepaid health card, identified as EReady, was designed to provide primarily one-time coverage for emergency-related cases only in all Maxicare affiliated hospitals nationwide.

What are examples of emergency cases? To name a few, it could be a case of allergy, food poisoning or even animal bites. Emergency cases can also be accident-related such as drowning, falling or slipping from the stairs, or vehicular or motorcycle accident.

There are two (2) types of EReady prepaid cards: Titanium & Platinum.

What’s the difference?

The EReady Titanium card has access to more than 1500 accredited hospitals. However, it does not have access to the six (6) major hospitals in Metro Manila.

This is the advantage of the EReady Platinum card. For those who need access to the six (6) major hospitals in Metro Manila, buy this EReady Platinum card so you would have access to:

  1. Asian Hospital;
  2. Cardinal Santos Medical Center;
  3. Makati Medical Center;
  4. St. Luke’s, Quezon City;
  5. St. Luke’s, BGC, Taguig City;
  6. The Medical City.

What value can we get from this EReady Prepaid Health card?

It provides up to P15,000 one time coverage on illnesses or injuries that arises from medical-related emergency conditions. The outpatient emergency coverage includes:

  1. Doctor’s services for emergency treatment;
  2. Emergency room fees;
  3. Medicines used for immediate relief and during treatment;
  4. Oxygen, IV fluid, whole blood and human blood products;
  5. Dressings, casts, sutures;
