I started my LinkedIn journey last June 16, 2008 (to be exact). That’s the date I joined LinkedIn.
At that time, I already believe in the power of social media and I know LinkedIn is a professional social media site where I can promote my personal brand.
I already knew what I wanted – why I joined LinkedIn and that is, to promote my Personal Brand.
That year, there were only 30 million LinkedIn members worldwide at that time.
I came to know about Virginia Bautista on LinkedIn sometime last quarter of 2017. I consulted her about, guess what? Personal Branding. I just wanted to add what I already know back then and I learned a great deal from her. And for that, she will always be my LinkedIn mentor! Thank you, Ms. V!
Then my wife, Anna, and I, met her when she had an appointment in Makati.
Fast forward to 2018, 10 years after I joined LinkedIn, Virginia Bautista informed me that I was nominated in the 1st ever Top Filipinos to follow on LinkedIn for inspiration and learning. It was supposed to be a Top 100 list but the final number ended at Top 47 since the recognition was unheard of. And I believe there were some skeptics that’s why they did not support the project.
A short recap to the Top 100 Filipinos recognition in the next 3 years.
1st year. It was a “stir”.
2nd year. It was a “buzz’.
3rd year. It’s getting some “following”.
For the 1st 3 years, I enjoyed and got thrilled for making it to the list every year.
In the 4th year, by the grace of God, I still made it to the list of the Top 100 Filipinos on LinkedIn.
wow! Four years in a row! 4-peat!
And this time, it generated attention – from Filipinos on LinkedIn, even Filipinos outside of LinkedIn, including the Top 100 Filipino sponsors (A BIG Thank you to all the sponsors!)
Totally humbled by the honor and recognition, I am truly grateful and feel blessed by being part of the Top 100 Filipino list.
The 4th year was really the best ever year to date, for the Top 100 Filipinos event, to cite a few reasons:
1. Finally, we had our 1st ever “virtual awarding”.
2. A generous sponsor gave away 100 hoodies to the Top 100 Filipinos who made it on the 2021 list. In the 3 previous years, there were no souvenir items yet.
3. More importantly, the Top 100 Filipinos event is causing everyone’s head to turn and take a look like what is it about anyway?
Last year, LinkedIn members number to around 740 Million, and out of that, there are 11 Million Filipinos on LinkedIn.
Imagine being part of the Top 100 Filipinos to follow on LinkedIn.
You can make a difference somehow not only in the Filipino LinkedIn community but to the rest of the LinkedIn world.
That’s the impact of being part of the Top 100 Filipinos on LinkedIn.
It is my honor and privilege to share, teach, educate, inspire, instill hope, and spread awareness on my advocacy which is health, investments and insurance.
