The Myth of Marriage

Some single people (me included)  have this thinking that the solution to the problem on how to deal with sexual immorality is to get married.

All along, single people have this belief that once they get married, they can finally overcome sexual immorality and are over with the temptation, that they will stop playing or flirting around, because they already have a permanent partner.

Not true at all.

In fact, once you’re married, the temptation gets stronger. To some married men, they have to overcome the “sawa” factor (boredom), they have to boost their ego (that they are still attractive), and there’s the temptation of trying out something new. There are many other reasons, not to mention, the way out or outlet esp. when a marriage is crumbling or “on the rocks”, so to speak.

Adultery is not exclusive to single men. Even married people are not spared.

The temptation gets stronger when a man gets married because the devil is in the business of destroying marriages as shown by this bible verse:

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; – John 10:10a

When the devil sees single people committing sexual immorality, engaging in pre-marital sex, living in, he is content with that. Why? (I may get a flak for this but I have to speak out the truth.) The devil love seeing people live like this because that is his main purpose: for us to live in sin and to be separate from God.  I know where I speak of because I’ve been there, done that.

It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. – Isaiah 59:2

Marriage is not the answer to end sexual immorality. God is.

Only God can transform you through His Son Jesus.

Get hooked up with the Word of God. Read the Bible. Get to know Jesus. He is the answer. He will set you free from your bondage.

How do you do this? Join a bible-believing church and fellowship with believers. From experience, having a small group helps a lot because there is accountability. When you are accountable to someone, it will keep your spiritual progress in check and help you get off from whatever struggles you may be having. It’s like counselling but better in form because the advice that you get is deeply rooted in the Word of God.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. – 2 Timothy 3:16
